Pros

Good Benefits PTO, bonuses, stock options etc (besides insurance).

Cons

Turning HIGHLY "corporate" and losing what made it the Unicorn it once was. Corporate is not a bad thing of course but in these terms the bottom line is all that matters and the share price. The will preach culture but none of it matters anymore if it doesnt increase share price.

Thank you for sharing this review, and for your time as a dedicated Toaster. As companies grow and scale, changes are to be expected, but I'm disappointed to hear that you feel our culture is changing. We remain rooted in our values and driven by our mission and are constantly thinking of how we can best empower our employees.

Pros

Toast cares about its employees and customers, and still has a close-knit feel even with a large, remote staff. The Toast platform provides everything customers need, which makes it a great product to support. Toast is a good place to work if you're self-directed, love supporting restaurants, and want to work for a large company. There are a fair amount of opportunities to grow at Toast. Compensation is on the lower side, but I did receive RSUs which was nice. Excellent work life balance.

Cons

They make too many products, making it difficult for customers to onboard. When I worked there, I was hired into a position that was newly created. No one had a clear idea of what I was supposed to do, and it became clear that there are many departments and ambiguity around why certain roles exist and what they're expected to accomplish. In the course of 7 interviews, no one could express specifically why my role was needed. Many of the folks I worked with had roles that were quite nuanced, so you'll succeed here if you know how to maneuver through large corporations with bloated teams many acronyms. Be ready for a corporate structure with multiple layers of management, where it can take a long time to make a meaningful impact.
