Pros

Best reasons to work at TJ's is flexible hours, and decent pay for what you do great Part time job for students and people who want to work with little responsibility-other than showing up, cashiering and stocking. Easy going place to work.

Cons

The full-timers are manager's who for the most part are uneducated and got promoted based on doing being friends with the Captain or first mate. No formal training program for them it's a sink or swim baptism by fire management program. They shoul be more elective recruiting college grads who have taken courses in leadership, management, and human resources. They fail epically in that area

Pros

Still privately held, give benefits to any employee working 20hrs/wk.

Cons

Management positions require 50hrs/wk., mandatory transfers to locations up to 50 miles from your home address, sometimes only 8 hours between 10 hour shifts for managers.

Pros

Pay and benefits and 401 plan.

Cons

Inconsistency with all levels of management. Some are ok at best, while others are horrible. Very rarely is there one that actually meets the standards of their income and title. Some in upper management really have absolutely no idea how the store runs day to day, often relying on others below them to make it all happen. When problems mount up over time, they are just transferred to another store and the cycle starts all over again....Of course work schedules in retail are terrible. Can be even worse at TJ's.Almost impossible to keep their employees healthy with such demanding work hours.Despite all this..I still work here.Shows how bad the economy is these days.
