Pros

everyone does a little bit of everything, so you don't have to be stuck doing one thing for too long. there are food tastings regularly. the benefits are amazing. the people working at tjs are so much fun, especially when the store is closed. you get a ten minute break on top of your 30 minute, which is especially good for smokers (it can be hard to make it over 3 hours without).

Cons

most trader joe's stores are very small, so working on the floor while the store is open can be difficult. trader joe's products often get discontinued, so customers tend to be upset at you when you tell them one of their favorite items got discontinued.

Tough to move up in this company, in this economy!

Pros

Great working conditions. Great people, both crew and customers. 2 reviews/pay raise opportunities per year. Flexible schedule. Decent benefits.

Cons

Difficult to get promoted in this economy, no matter how hard or talented you may be, since the company isn't building enought new stores to get promoted to unless you want to relocate out of state, and because people just don't leave the company. Difficult to make a living as a part-timer unless you have few financial responsibilities..

Pros

The best thing is the commitment TJ's has to promote a sense of community between the Crew Members and our customers. We're encouraged to learn our customers names, and to engage them on the floor. The benefits TJ's offers to part-timers are better than I've received at full time jobs with large corporations. The work can be hard, yes, both physically and emotionally, but most days you leave feeling a sense of accomplishment.

Cons

It can be emotionally draining, dealing with some of the abuse the customers heap on us; and not all full-timers are as competent as others, so it can be a hit-or-miss some days, depending on who's "running the floor." Full-timers tend to play favorites, and if you're not a suck-up, you may not be on their favorites list.
