Hard Transition after Ingersoll Rand takeover.

Pros

If you are willing to relocate every couple of years, you can move up fairly quickly within the company.

Cons

I started with the company at their St. Louis Distribution center right when Ingersoll Rand took over. Shortly after that, several factories were shut down across the nation and the production was moved to facilities in Mexico. This lead to a significant increase in lead times and a decrease in product quality. About a year later I took a position with one of the Southern sales offices. It was amazing how frivolously money was spent at this office. It seemed like the main sales strategy that was encouraged was to just schmooze customers, without actually developing relationships. Some of their most loyal customers, no longer do business with them. It has been over 3 years since I have worked for them and I only know two people who are still with the company. Things could have gotten better, but I really can't say for sure.

Pros

None that I can think of. The only thing that I liked is that it was close to home.

Cons

Incompetent management loves to blame others for their failings. I worked in the St Paul Manufacturing Operations group for a year and a half. This was the most miserable experience of my life. If you like to be micromanaged, scapegoated, and enjoy working in an extremely tense environment, this is the place for you. The plant manager will forces hourly employees to work nearly every weekend so she can make her numbers and look good. If you are a salaried employee, she will try to bully you into working Saturdays.
