Pros

Large company with a lot of opportunities. Changing sectors or functions is like going to a new company, so you can still grow and learn. Provides flexibility with laptop, and mobile phone, enabling remote working. (Not sure whether to put this in pros or cons, but I think it's more of a Pro)

Cons

Too many initiatives. Some conflict with one another. AGILE process has taken over as one of the answers to driving productivity. Leaders keep "agiling" people out of work. But who will be left to do the work?? Over allocated with work load, but told my management to "manage" it. Work nights and weekends to keep up with workload, to try to maintain same level of quality of work, and not let any one thing get dropped. Can't get management support, because they are either: a.) also bombarded with workload b.) busy with their own agendas, not paying attention to the business/department needs. (Keep trying to fulfill the next objective/initiative!)

Pros

Great Education Reimbursement, and Ingersoll Rand University is awesome

Cons

Trane used to a GREAT company to work for, it was customer and employee focused. They were increasing employee benefits when other companies were cutting them, and increasing market share at the same time. Then Ingersoll Rand bought Trane and the focus immediately went from the customer and the employee to the stock price. Now every decision is based upon what is going to give the stock a short term gain. The result is a dysfunctional management system where millions are wasted on chasing dimes. It is very frustrating for a Manufacturing Engineer ( and most everyone else who does not get a bonus based on stock price) to see data driven, long term improvement based decision making replaced with flavor of the week (sometimes flavor of the day) decisions. There is a reason you losing market share.

Pros

I love my job wholeheartedly. My team is excellent and there’s so much room for growth and continued education.

Cons

The return to office mandate is ridiculous and shows a true lack of concern for dedicated, skilled workers. I’ve worked remote with a virtual team for 3 years and now I’m suddenly forced to drive 23 miles a day to an office where none of my team members will be. Basically wasting gas and childcare money that I do not have and will not be compensated for just so I can do the same work alone in an office that I’ve done from home just fine. I feel like I’m being punished for being a standout employee.
