Pros

Compensation and benefits Work life balance IR is a good company that treats its employees well.

Cons

Lack of work Work not challenging Too many managers No opportunity for advancement Your satisfaction level will depend on your work experience and personal level of motivation. If you are satisfied with "good enough" and do not require challenging work or opportunity for advancement and increased responsibility, IR is the place for you. I don't mean the previous statement as a slight. Its just that the reality is the company, essentially, manufactures doorknobs. Therefore, there isn't a huge emphasis on going beyond "good enough". There are too many managers. Way too many layers for initiatives to travel through to reach the light of day and, ultimately, implementation. Many of these managers seem to think meetings and a full Outlook calendar constitutes actual work. In short, the company is grossly top-heavy which retards innovation due to paperwork, documents, meetings, follow-up paperwork, documents, meetings etc. Granted, I worked in engineering, but the company direction is overwhelmingly guided by sales and marketing. Therefore, rather than organic growth through innovation and better products, the prime directive is induced VAVE to chase the margin. Cheaper, cheaper, cheaper while adding glitz. Again, this is probably exacerbated due to the product manufactured (i.e. doorknobs).
