Pros

For me, having the top management far away in Japan was helpful because I work better without having someone breathing on my neck. The situation may have changed after my departure.

Cons

The office had a general lethargic atmosphere. The company management in Japan was pushing hard for CRM solutions and other lucrative services, but there was absolutely no form of training at all for anyone on the US side. Being so far away from the action, they had no idea why the business was suffering, and employees and clients kept leaving.
