Pros

1 - the office is in a good location 2 -working with the linguists 3 - the potential to live abroad 4 - a lot of young employees

Cons

note - i am not a disgruntled employee - anyone who works at the company would agree that these things are fact. 1 - no matter what it is ALWAYS your fault 2 - you work 70+ hours a week 3 - they will work you into the ground and not care 4 - watching your coworkers be broken and seeing the misery and despair on their faces. 5 - the levels of stress are out of control 6 - complete lack of working relationship between sales and production 7 - sales lack of knowledge on what they are selling is disgusting. 8 - upper management has a "just sell it" mentality regardless of how feasible it is on productions part. and will expect you to get it done and berate you when you don't - regardless of whether or not it was actually possible. 9 - a mentality of burn and churn that is demoralizing 10 - upper management continues to put all responsibility on production managers and there is little accountability for anyone else. 11 - they salaries are barely livable for someone in NYC.

Pros

Young and friendly co-workers. They are hiring.

Cons

Young co-workers nobody else would accept to work there. They are hiring. Constantly because the turnover must be around 90% They despise both their customers and their linguists. What kind of business model is that?

Pros

1) This is a young company, hiring entry level employees, straight out of college. You will meet a lot of fun and interesting people here and make lasting friendships. 2) You are going to be working in an extremely fast paced/high stress environment. After a few months, you will become very efficient and adept at working under pressure.

Cons

1) Do not expect to have any work/life balance working at TransPerfect. Depending on your department, you will work 50-80 hour weeks. Although the company tells you that the official hours are from 8:30 - 6, you know you are having a good day if you can leave before 7. Also, just because you are working the hours that your I-banking friends are working, it doesn't mean that you are going to make nearly as much money as they do. Your base will probably be around 35k, with quarterly bonuses of a few k's. 2) Pressure from management to handle more and more projects: Because TPT is so understaffed due to a steady stream of people leaving, there are always more projects than the staff they have can handle, which means that the managers will pressure you to take more projects. They tell you that it's up to you to control your workload, but at the end of the day, you end up taking way more work than you can physically handle. 3) The penalty system: When a project goes wrong or when a client makes a complaint, it's automatically a Project Manager's responsibility. As a result, you receive a negative feedback, which at the end of the quarter affects how much bonus you will make. To summarize, you have no life, you make no money, and you get blamed for things that are not under your control.
