Pros

(In my team) Everyone is very flexible, there is no real expectation to "bring work home" unless you want to. Everyone is ridiculously friendly and down to earth.

Cons

Bit slow to hire people, I have been without a manager for almost 8 months (I should submit my own application ;))

Pros

- Remote work is fairly easy to come by - PTO easy to submit - Some great people hidden in the company - Company Changing and I think they want to go in the right direction after having the chance to talk to Phil Eckman, but they're so busy trying to catch up to their competition that they do not recognize the dead weight that remains in the company

Cons

- Expect to come across "leadership" that got promoted because they stayed, not because they were truly qualified - Will 100% underpay you, attempt to exploit your skills, and argue with you about just compensation - There are people getting paid far, far too much for what they are worth - A two-faced culture that enables bad managers to get away with unprofessional behavior - Have heard managers and directors complain about someone taking PTO, while they constantly cancel or no show for meetings only to have you lead for them - Very disorganized - Their data and technology is outdated or flat out unusable but the company and it's leaders won't listen to SMEs - No training - Terrible culture and by terrible I mean toxic, abusive, and down right rude. First couple meetings I had a lead catch me off guard with a rather easy question but was out of the scope of the present conversation. Only to try and embarrass me 2 seconds later stating that I clearly don't even understand basic industry terms - it was one of those questions you're confused it was being asked not because you didn't know. Seriously unprofessional people work at Transamerica.

Pros

Competitive pay, strong community and corporate structure.

Cons

Title system needs to be updated. It makes the actuarial department hard to attract talents. For instance, Associate Actuary = Director in US company; Actuary = AVP; Sr Actuary = VP, etc. The pay is up to or above the market level though.
