Pros

Company has good benefits - particularly for long-term employee's.

Cons

I was at Transamerica for for more than 12 years. The technology (IT) group has gone through so many changes and reorgs and then they decided to outsource most of their development staff and anyone in a technical role. In one of the recent reorgs while i was still there they removed all the technology leadership from the CTO on down and replaced the leadership from within the company from small division they had in the Northeast. The leadership in this group is clueless and worse, have that Northeastern attitude that includes using the "F" word in every sentence and such HUGE egos it is astounding. Very unprofessional and small-ship minded. Everyone walks on eggshells around them. They are convinced of their superiority. With this group, you only progress in your career or get promoted if you are buddies with someone high in the food chain. Very political climate.

Pros

The company bonuses were nice.

Cons

Promotions seemed to be only available in the Cedar Rapids location. Many people were let go in the Baltimore. The company "favorite" employees are always promoted/doted on.

Pros

Time off, benefits are ok

Cons

Pay terrible compared to industry standards, raises and merit bonuses are terrible and the timing is poor, lack of proper management (little to no qualifications), no room for advancement even with proper skills and qualifications, inter department politics, does not care for employees (only numbers driven)... The turnover rate speaks for itself... just to name a few...
