Pros

Corporate Tax has a culture of accountability. Therefore things run very smoothly. Everyone helps everyone. There are core beliefs which everyone in the department abides by. Corporate tax is one of the best if not the best departments/divisions to work for at Transamerica. The senior management team appreciates the hard work that is put in throughout the year and recognizes it as well.

Cons

The work life balance leaves a lot to be desired. Corporate tax is not very far from public accounting. The one exception is that there is no end date here. Public accounting has April 15th to look forward to. At Transamerica it is one large project after another.

Pros

Medical, dental and vision benefits are great Many fun company events St. Petersburg facility has nice cafeteria, an excercise area, a lovely mile long lakeside boardwalk Paid time off, bonuses and other benefits are well designed 401k match Pension plan is a nice perk

Cons

Communications regarding changes are not always proffered, making rumor mills run rampant - cost cutting, restructuring, rebranding, downsizing areas and using synergies to create a more concise operation are actually cause for concern for many employees worried about their jobs

Pros

Name recognition of the brand, and unique performance based compensation is attractive as Transamerica attempts to become a top-tier provider of financial products.

Cons

Not always clear path for advancement, and sharinf of information between departments, business units as well as divisions could be vastly improved.
