Very positive place to work

Pros

Very positive place to work as an underwriter There are quirks in the way things are done, but once you get used to this and find your groove there is opportunity to deal with an array of interesting risks, including multinational programmes Support is there to influence and lead negotiations and make your own underwriting decisions. Internal learning mechanisms and training are slowly improving. Treated as a grownup in terms of flexibility with work hours and juggling family life etc. Full support for professional development

Cons

I felt Travelers were slow to adapt to the soft insurance market, in terms of quoting very aggressively for the right risks and flexing appetite where appropriate. They have just switched all underwriters to using esims on personal devices, which despite best intentions to save costs, does have some drawbacks in terms of distinguishing between work and personal calls / texts . Workloads at peak times can be very high.
