Changed for the better

Pros

Travelers has changed a lot in recent years, and two full scale reviews of the business in quick succession has led to a number of ex-staff reminiscing about happier days operating as St Paul. However, the truth is that the changes have been for the better. Previously every team and function worked to the personal preferences of the manager and there was no consistency for anyone working across teams. This has now changed and the company feels dar more organised. Travelers really promote Diversity and Inclusion. The European offices are too small in scale to support some of the diversity networks found in the US, but there has been a recent focus on a partnership with STONEWALL and the DIVE IN festival. There are mental health first aiders in every European office and there have been a number of innovations around flexible working.

Cons

Travelers have the slow mentality of a large company, which can be unsuited to its niche position in Europe. There is always an attempt to reach a "perfect" option when the "good enough" option is ready and waiting.

Pros

Good flexible leave programmes; really trying to be more inclusive and listen to what staff want; Is comfortable in it's own skin, not trying to be like all the other insurers

Cons

Slow (but willing) to change; Needs more investment in training - personal and technical
