Pros

Great job if you want to work your butt off for little pay and advancement

Cons

12+ hour days! low pay! little chance for advancement! very misleading job interview--I truly felt after my interview that I would have the opportunity to advance my career AND make a difference in the field....after more than a year I am making less than $17 an hour...LONG hours...many days no lunch break....and a lot of lifting heavy items of50+ pounds....some managers very rude...POOR COMMUNICATION with employees and prospective employees

Pros

Some ex-employees have mentioned that 'you would be better off at Mcdonalds'. These people are ex employees for a reason. As someone who has been an Environmental Specialist for several years, I have seen a few of this type pass through. They do not realize that you actually have to work for the things you want in life. Word of mouth travels quickly here and upper management will not hesitate to kick negative people to the curb. While the hourly rate only starts out at $15.50, if you work hard and pass your tests one can easily be making $20 after 1-2 years. With about 50 hours/week worked, this means a 23 year old can be pulling $50,000/year straight out of college. This is before Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dental, 401K, company trips to Central America, etc. Not many people flipping burgers at Mickey D's make that kind of living. This may sound cliche, but there are truly great people at Triumvirate. Most people in mid to upper level positions worked their butts off in the field before being offered a job in the office. Because of this, Triumvirate has a great sense of camaraderie that you find at very few other companies. Also, mentoring is taken very seriously here. While everyone does have their own angle, the majority of long term employees are genuinely nice people who want to see the company succeed. At Triumvirate, people get ahead by building those around them up, rather than taking them down.

Cons

There are 60 Environmental Specialist and only a handful of 'higher level' jobs at a given time. Don't expect to be handed a cubicle on your first day. Either work you butt off like everyone else or have the correct skill set that Triumvirate needs at the time. The job can also be quite dangerous. There is a risk of exposure to toxic, explosive, and flammable chemicals. However, the executives at TEI preach safety and do their best to make sure people go home safely to their families every day. Safety is prioritized over money at this company.

Pros

- If you want to stay in the hazardous waste industry you can move up in the company, since they hire from within.

Cons

I didn't get my bachelors degree in Environmental Science to take a position that involves BASIC chemistry knowledge and to spend the majority of my workday moving heavy drums of hazardous wastes & chemicals onto and off of trucks. -The interview was completely misleading. I would have never even taken this job if they actually told me what I'd be doing on a day to day basis. -Manual Labor - this is what you'll be doing mostly. -Long hours, sometimes with no lunch or breaks -Low pay -The people who stay are all workaholics, sorry, I work to live, not live to work.
