Pros

CUNA Mutual has a strong bonus program and is one of the few employers that still offers a Pension. The campus is nice (onsite cafeteria/cafes, gym, underground tunnels to the different buildings, underground parking).

Cons

There are a lot of layers within the organization which makes it difficult to get anything accomplished. There is also little to no transparency and it often seems that decisions are made in a vacuum. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for why people get promoted and it’s often based on who at the top likes you rather than how good you are at your job. It is a very bureaucratic environment and people are not afraid to say whatever needs to be said or throw others under the bus to get themselves ahead. There is a strong focus on diversity and inclusion right now but it seems to be more of just a “hot topic” or “buzz word” as opposed to something that is actually changing/driving the culture. The environment changed drastically in the time I was there and I’m glad I chose to leave when I did as the overall morale appears to continue to decline at a rapid pace.

Pros

Great hours and somewhat good health benefits

Cons

No movement opportunities for minorities especially black men. Favoritism is the only way to move forward. Your years of experience doesn't really matter, New employees with no experience will hire in above you. No place to make a formal complaint without retaliation. Look elsewhere & don't waist your experience here.
