Pros

My computer workers are friendly. And we learn as a team. We really gel in service to some difficult customers.

Cons

Difficult customers. Telecom and MSOs as customers are capricious and demanding. Frequent scope of work changes in the middle of the project.

Pros

Supervisors get to take a vehicle home. Networking ability is good for when you decide to leave. You’ll meet some okay people.

Cons

Work life balance is non existent. You’ll be working salaried as a supervisor, 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week. You know that saying in retail “if you have time to lean you have time to clean” think that but with billing….if you’re breathing you better be billing billing billing. Project managers are more concerned with emails and how to organize your email inbox and who should get emails rather than keeping current customers and employees happy. Turnover rate is extreme. On all positions, but more importantly supervisors and middle management. If you’re going through supervisors every 5-8 months, that’s a really bad look to your clients. There’s a saying that the administrator supervisor has “train them up or train them out” and she’s religious about it, if you’re not where they want you to be in 2-3 weeks, they’ll send you packing. Overall it’s all about who you know rather than what you know. The good ole boys club THRIVES here in the Phoenix office.
