Pros
Paid time off is great. Winter recess off is the best. Each school within the university has it's own culture. Some are better than others. I've been lucky to work in two that have been great.
Cons
Health insurance premiums are a little high, but I guess that's the case everywhere. A lot of work around the university is on grants, so there's always the possibility the money funding you can go away. In almost 10 years that I've been with Tulane, there have been three hiring freezes.
