Worst Work Culture - Stay away

Pros

At Turbonomic you will learn basically nothing but what not to do, and why you shouldn't work at a company where the employees are family members of upper management. CEO is amazing and I wish he was envolved in technical visions as well.

Cons

The culture is superficial and biased when it comes to the talk about improving it for engineers. You do not get credit for anything you do here. May be a bit of sugar coating from your manager but the reviews are never conveyed to upper management or across the company. Only family and friends of the founder or senior employees are being benefitted, and this is not just once but every time. There is too much of micro management. Founder wants to know everything and emails all development about asking why new bugs / breakdowns and other metrics. Most of the upper management is insecure and selfish, they simply don't want people in their team to grow in their career. They spent most of their time trying to please the founder. Engineers are sometimes yelled at or warned about coming late. There is zero motivation to work.

Thank you for sharing this view... we have evolved in the last year and the engineering team is as strong as ever. We have worked on rewards and recognition with more transparency. This helped us get better, thank you.
