Cons
-Several employees displayed consistently disrespectful behavior. I experienced repeated instances of being talked down to, interrupted, excluded from decisions affecting my team’s work, and having my contributions dismissed or reassigned without communication. On one occasion, I was directly told that I was “useless.” It became difficult to grow professionally because responsibilities were frequently taken away before I had the opportunity to learn or contribute meaningfully. -The overall work environment was highly toxic. There was frequent backstabbing, excessive complaining, and a general lack of trust between employees and teams. -My team was often overworked and appeared to receive little respect or support from other departments. This lack of respect was reflected in tasks being reassigned without coordination or communication. -There was a strong ego-driven culture throughout the organization. Some employees with limited or unrelated experience would respond aggressively to feedback or collaboration attempts, often taking over work rather than working constructively as a team. The company also suffered from a “tech bro” mentality that frequently interfered with effective execution and accountability. -Certain team members openly discussed attempts to get coworkers fired, which created an environment where many employees felt unsafe speaking openly. Personally, this contributed to my reluctance to voice concerns or opinions, which in turn led to further disrespect from others. -Professionalism among some members of leadership and staff was lacking. During meetings with high-profile contractors, I observed senior personnel giving tours while dressed in sandals, cargo shorts and baseball caps, which reflected poorly on the company and raised concerns about leadership standards, especially considering the nature of its government contracts. -At a company Christmas party, a senior employee became intoxicated and began ranting about personal matters in front of staff, creating several uncomfortable situations. While some employees found it entertaining, it raised concerns about leadership judgment and workplace culture. The same senior employee would hastily fire people if they were not a yes man. -The company moved very quickly, which had both positive and negative effects. In many cases, major design decisions were made by individuals without the appropriate expertise, resulting in products that end users ultimately did not adopt or use. -Several projects lacked clear direction, leadership, or requirements. This often caused teams to work independently without alignment, leading to wasted effort or the development of products and features that ultimately served little practical purpose.
