* Good work/life balance, feeling not so much different from Google and likes which is my previous position. * Almost obsessively tech-driven approach to investment. * Nice location at Soho (as compared to mid-town like some banks) * Generous home-from-home policy. * People often say bad things about hedge fund in general but TS has generally pretty friendly culture.
Cons
* There is no food provided (albeit it has decent snack bars). * People like work-from-home a lot to the point it is bit hard to feel I belong here as a new joiner. * Tech debt is often overlooked in a way that would not be tolerated in Google. * The in-house eng tools are sometime not state-of-art. * Some sign of red-taping is observed which I believe is a bad sign for non-executive level employees.
Work with talented people
Generally well managed
Good work-life balance
Relaxed atmosphere
Managers are technically sophisticated
Great mobility within the company
Cons
Very few checks on management authority - no 180 review, no peer feedback. Disputes with management feedback have no recourse. Advice - make sure you trust your manager.
Sometimes it feels too laid back and no one is held accountable for serious issues.
Bad managers aren't found and removed.
Much of the trading technology is mature. You won't get to do much new development.
TSS is a mess. Avoid it. They cannot find a vision that works.
