Pros

When legislation was actually moving, it was a great place to work. I was able to leave at the end of the day with a real sense of accomplishment. Its a good spot to start a career in public policy as you learn the political angle to how legislation moves. This has been useful since I left in numerous ways. I also really liked my co-workers, we had great people.

Cons

During the time I was there barely anything happened. Chalk it up to partisan gridlock, but when you're working late hours just to have everything defeated for idiotic political reasons it really burns you out.

It looks great on a resume but the pay does not support cost of living.

Cons

There is not a large turn over which makes it difficult to move up in the organization
