      Some Areas Better than Others

      Pros

      Competitive pay for office workers. Abundance of options for learning, cross functional training, giving back. Great side perks, lunches, WFH 1 day a week.

      Cons

      As an organization, USV puts policies, trainings, activities in place in efforts to maximize welfare, engagement, culture, learning. It really stems down to individual leadership of a business unit or team, like any company. I don’t think they are willing to weed out bad leaders, so despite their lengthy efforts to be great, inaction is action. Comparatively to other companies I have worked for, PTO is severely lacking (holidays) so make sure to negotiate extra vacation. I would recommend this organization to others, granted they fit a certain mold (work 9-5 and keep your head down/conform) or work in a different business unit.

      Absolutely toxic corporate culture.

      Pros

      The people you meet that actually work in the trenches are usually great, if beaten down from above.

      Cons

      Below market rate pay, regardless of what corporate tells us. Absolutely toxic stooges in the glass palace up in Appleton. Nepotism runs wild in this company. If your name doesn’t start with a Van or you’re not related to someone from ownership, good luck. Backstabbing to get ahead. Throwing out loyal employees who have spent decades with the company like they mean nothing, because they have the audacity to speak their minds. I could go on and on.
