      Pros

      University of California Davis is located in California’s Central Valley, a rather rural area that prompted the nickname “University Farm School.” However, UC Davis is now a recognized as a major research institution. Over 50% of their students work on some form of research project during their studies at Davis. Smart people, great campus.

      Cons

      It's a small town. Most people are in their 20s and partying.

      There are great people to work with.

      Cons

      All the workers will be trained which is the best part because you will get transferable skills for later jobs. Sometimes you may have to do take home research.

      Pros

      It's a very good university with many top-quality researchers. There is a very strong emphasis on biology of many sorts. If your research is biology, there is a good chance you will find someone here doing work in your field.

      Cons

      All the usual downsides of working for a university, i.e. you find your own funding, compensation isn't as good as industry, etc.
