      Pros

      Excellent people to work with and for. They really care about the issues and the office environment is very friendly. There are several opportunities to work with a wide range of people including researchers, extension professionals and growers.

      Cons

      Work is primarily based in the office, which is fine, but more outreach and field work would have been desirable.

      Pros

      + Plenty of flexibility with work hours and vacation time. + Faculty are friendly and are open to providing advice and guidance. + Lab culture is very nurturing and promotes both learning and development of programming skills for bioinformatics. + Working on research projects and seeing them to completion so that they may be submitted for publications. This allows for increased experience in applying bioinformatics in modern research as well as scientific writing. + On campus food is always a short walk away.

      Cons

      - Salary will not be as generous as an equivalent position in industry - For entry level positions (e.g. Junior Specialist) there is not a system of promotions.
