Pros

Work with a great staff of scientists and engineers on very interesting projects. Work life/balance is encouraged.

Cons

The University requires employees to pay extra for things like parking passes, which is kind of understandable. It can be a little bureaucratic at times. It's a state/government org which policies/budget cuts/etc can have an impact as well.

Work/Life Balance, Retirement, Flexibility, Job Security, Medical Benefits. Generally speaking, the culture is positive, supportive and family oriented.

Cons

Small or Non Existent Development Teams, Management one or two layers above immediate supervisors have little to no software engineering experience or experience leading software development teams. Executives at the most influential levels of leadership on campus are likewise of little help to a progressive Information Technology agenda.
