Pros

Autonomy, creative challenges, student-centered, opportunities for innovation, social justice oriented This is a very young campus with many opportunities to build programs and policies from ground up. Adaptable leadership who are ready to change things that are not working. It's not a 100-year old campus with a culture and leadership who won't budge the status quo. For the most part, UCM has no status quo when it comes to policy--I think leadership is constantly searching and striving for improvement in workflow, equity, and removing unnecessary barriers for students.

Cons

Not many opportunities for advancement (especial until the 2020 project has concluded) Rural location makes it difficult to: - meet people when you're single - find good health practitioners (e.g. women physicians, specialists, mental health providers) - find nightlife that is not overrun by students - get involved in the community - find liberal/progressive places of worship

Pros

Working in a highly flexible, job requires you to be able to organize outdoor adventures and develop marketing campaigns to ensure the event is successful. Management, would cover some of the expenses. Very flexible work environment, access to outdoor gear.

Cons

As a part time student you can't work over time and you only get payed 8 hours per day. Some trips span over 3 days of active supervision of students and you will only be payed for 24 hours rather than the full time you worked.

Severely Understaffed

Pros

Pay is good for the area. Beautiful, new buildings on main campus.

Cons

Poor on-baording for new staff members. Little to no training or written posted protocols for campus procedures. Severely understaffed and most everyone is overworked. Several persons in leadership roles are not qualified to do their position as they would be at a more well established institution. Lack of professionalism amongst staff. Central IT and systems are outdated, not integrated, poor user interface and adds to staff work.
