Pros

There are a lot of research opportunities in the Mechatronic, Embedded Systems & Automation (MESA) laboratory. Their research specialty includes (but not limited to): fractional calculus, unmanned aerial vehicles, and signal processing.

Cons

There are not many downsides to working in the Mechatronic, Embedded Systems & Automation (MESA) laboratory. However, if I had to pick something, it would be the the fact that there are so many projects going on simultaneously.

Pros

They're willing to work around your schedule. In addition they have a great staff and supervisors who are willing to help you succeed. The work environment is almost always engaging and fun whether there are tasks to do or not.

Cons

Sometimes you get shifts that are kind of bothersome because you may have an exam the next day but that is why you should plan ahead all the time to give yourself the time necessary to prepare.

Pros

If you live on campus, it's convenient to work on campus. You'll meet a lot of people. The money will help if you need it.

Cons

It takes a lot of time away from your studies, social life, and extracurriculars to work a job that has nothing to do with your major. For me, I was mechanical engineering, so working as a stocker in the Dining Commons doesn't even make it onto my resume. So, I recommend finding a research opportunity on campus which pays a stipend or hourly wage because you'll make the money you need and also get valuable experience for later.
