Pros

There are lots of different areas you can explore for research opportunities and there are many amenities and resources on campus.

Cons

There are very few PIs who are not toxic in some way and the pay is very low. It took striking for 6 weeks to get paid minimum wage and get PTO. The environment is very cold and it can be hard to find a good community here. I'm fortunate to have a decent PI and wonderful coworkers but that is not the average experience for most graduate students.

Pros

The neuroscience PhD program is highly interdepartmental; everyone is very supportive and connected

Cons

They could prepare students for a wider variety of careers, not just academia
