Pros

The Union has surprisingly good benefits: Health insurance, child care , maternity/paternity leave, and protections More departments advocate for TA/ Grad student rights

Cons

Absolutely no job security once you’re off contact. Positions are becoming increasingly limited with Covid and accepting more students. You always end up working more than you should. Pay is only 9 months out of the year. Pay attention to the union
