Pros

The benefits and pay are pretty decent compared to doctoral programs at other universities. The community is nice, and living conditions are fair. There are programs and other methods for graduate students facing food insecurity.

Cons

Degree requirements differ per department- this can be a pro or a con depending on the department's average length for a PhD.
