Pros

Allows for somewhat independent thought, although not much. Benefits are ok, could be better. Some departments are not sexist. Good bus service.

Cons

If you don't have a PhD your ideas will be dismissed, and then called brilliant at another meeting when a PhD suggests the exact same idea.

Good Benefits, Fairly Flexible

Pros

Definitely a lot of benefits no matter what role you play, you can thank the union for that. As with many academic environments the work environment can be fairly laid back, with very flexible hours. Summer are particularly laid back.

Cons

Academic environment is fairly laid back, but there can be a fair amount of bureaucracy in between you and getting the job done, which can cause many frustrations.

Pros

UCR's Student Recreation Center is a great place to network. Most jobs are easy/does not take up a lot of time.

Cons

Strict rules and guidelines. A lot of time feels like we are still treated as kids, not adults.
