Nice campus, strong diversity

Pros

Ucr is tucked away in the deserty hills east of Orange County and Los Angeles. Postdocs in general make little money for all their work, but I enjoyed my time in the psychology department. Nice staff, good diversity across campus.

Cons

Could have better eating options on and off campus. Weather can be unbearably hot in summer. Not considered "premier" academic institution, but it holds its weight.

Pros

Great place to expand knowledge and gain important experience. The school is within range of LA, and multiple beaches. The weather is sunny year long.

Cons

12 hour work days are fairly common. Deadlines are not always clear. It is also very common to have a project dropped before its completion.

Pros

Great location. One hour to the mountains, open desert and to the beaches. Small department with lots of funding.

Cons

Same cons as with other grad programs, Grad students treated like cheap labor. low pay for the amount of time spent working in the labs.
