OVERWORKED

Pros

- they worked around my class schedule

Cons

- when the schedule was wrong, they made it our responsibility to find coverage. If coverage was not found, you would get a point reduction.

Pros

Working for the SRC as a student is a very nice job to have. FitWell specifically doesn't require a whole lot to the job. You just have to be willing to clean equipment on certain shifts and be okay with interacting with people when it comes to enforcing gym policies or answering questions.

Cons

If you aren't taking classes, maybe working over a break for example, then the simplicity can actually make the job very boring.

Pros

The students are great and 'real', though typically not very strong academically.

Cons

Communication between faculty and staff is generally bad. There can also be a lot of toxicity among faculty members, partly because most academics have imposter syndrome and a big chunk of the professors at UCR seem to derive their fragile sense of self-worth from where they stand on the academic ladder. The class observation process is often used to treat lecturers like punching bags regardless of their teaching performance. In my experience, about 20% of the faculty and staff are pleasant, reliable and easy to work with.

Pros

Hires about anyone. Genuinely enjoyed working with my peers. Worked around my class schedule

Cons

My classes got in the way in being fully productive. The health and safety could be better too.
