Pros

Managers are flexible, so many methods to recognize employees who go above and beyond, awards, recognition, company events, occasional free food, cafe has a great selection, nearby restaurants, good benefits,

Cons

Parking sucks, as an employee you have to pay for parking. Either $10 a month to park far away and take a shuttle that can skip you and you end up being late. The process takes an additional 30 minutes to park. PTO system needs to change. I am employed by the hospital itself and not by a clinic in the hospital. So we do not get the benefits of days off that other clinics have and we do not get the benefits of paid holidays as those clinics are not open 24/7. Its annoying because I am forced to take holidays off that I do not celebrate and forced to use my PTO for those holidays. I do not celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Labor Day, etc. Christmas and Thanksgiving are not my religion and so I need to use my PTO for these days, use my PTO for my own religious holidays, use my PTO for sick days, vacation days, and Dr appts, court days, personal days. All this PTO comes from one bank and it bothers me that I need to use additional PTO for a religion that I do not celebrate. I would rather work those days but we do not get the option becuase then we would get paid holiday pay. Since our PTO is all in one bank I am unable to accumulate vacation time. For a company that strives to be inclusive this is definetally a problem. I know employees who struggle with this because they have health issues, family problems, law problems, different religions. Some employees sacrifice their health and staying at home when feeling sick because they do not have enough PTO to rest. I appreciate the PTO but being required to take holidays off and use my own PTO for these days is ridiculous and needs to be changed. These are the only things I dislike about working for UC Health. If this was changed, I would love working here and I wouldn't have anything to complain about. But this PTO thing is a huge stressor for me who cares for my family, has a different religion, has health issues, legal problems, and I am on a rat race to have enough PTO to balance my life. So no vacation for me.
