Pros

The name of the institution carries some prestige.

Cons

While UCLA purports to be on the cutting edge of Human Rights and progressive practices with CiCARE the reality is that the institution mirrors that of a 1950's old boys club any homage towards a positive patient service oriented environment is purely lip service and performative in nature. Be prepared to face various unethical management practices from discrimination, harassment, Director endorsed mobbing campaigns, nepotism, unethical forms of communication, malicious gossip, and favoritism. The institution is run more like a fraternity/sorority than an actual business. Work related metrics are overlooked instead personal feelings and friendships are used to determine which employee's will be supported and which will be sabotaged and or managed out. High performers are silo'd and smeared so the lowest common denominator can thrive. This has left the institution low functioning inefficient and constantly on the brink of failure/collapse.

Pros

Looks decent on one's resume

Cons

This department is run poorly. I work for the Assistant CFO. She is the single worst boss I have ever had. If the boss likes you she will speak to you and support your career. Factors that might assist you in this endeavor: she approves of the college you went to, she knows your mom, you are friends with one of the chosen ones. If you don't fall into this category, expect anything from stagnation to shunning. The boss pulls strings at the medical center for her family when they were getting care. These calls were made with her door open, Heard her then tell her office pet that these are the perks of working at School of Medicine. It's disgusting.
