Pros
Benefits, stable position and salary, invests in the employee if you stay long. This is a great place to work if you have a family and are looking for something for the long-term. Things only get better with age here.
Cons
A bit of the lazy public employee feel, if you have a bad supervisor it's hard to change, can be a bit dry. If you are young and looking for a dynamic place to work it can be hard to find, but it is possible depending on the department. Bureaucracy rules here.
