Pros

Pushes you forward in your career. Faculty often informs students of academic and industry positions. Possibility of gaining experience through collaborations with faculty in other departments.

Cons

Statistics department does not have much academic structure for the graduate degree, however, I think they are currently restructuring the program.

Pros

Beautiful campus. People are generally nice. Of course, great academic environment. My job here isn't a job you'd apply to so this review's relevance might be limited.

Cons

I don't really know any downsides to working at UCLA other than that the pay is not as high as it could probably be somewhere else.

Pros

As a student, pay is reasonable, generally higher than minimum wage. Schedules for student employees can be flexible to allow for course schedules and other work you may have.

Cons

Availability of on-campus work varies quite a bit depending on when you apply. UCLA has such a large student body that jobs go fast. You might not get what you are looking for right away.
