Pros
I worked at Kronos for 16 years so I must have liked it. For most of my career at Kronos I was a developer in Continuing Engineering. This means it was my job to fix bugs. I enjoyed it as there every new issue was a new challenge. I was on a remote team. The people I worked with, both locally and at HQ, were all smart and dedicated and a pleasure to work with. Maybe it was a benefit of being remote, but my team generally worked 40 hours weeks. Benefits and salary seemed fine but I never really went out and compared. My immediate managers understood our work in the sense that some issues are easy and some issues are really hard and take longer to solve.
Cons
Remote teams were treated like red headed step children by upper management, not invited to Engineering wide meetings and such. Of course, from what I understand, they have now dissolved many of the remote teams. Upper management had a tendency to micromanage if a significant customer was upset. I personally don't feel having a VP calling a developer and wanting to know if it is "done" is in any way expediting a fix. There were never enough resources: VMs, database space (some customers had very, very large data) and such.

You don't need to know a lot to land a job, especially if you are support. a heart beat and ability to fake it until you make it is all you need
Cons
we have a performance review that is intended to prevent people from getting raises, friends who have high salaries are getting fired or asked to leave. Look at all the high paid people who have left recently and it is not a coincidence.
