Pros

The pros are the benefits, they are great. The fact that you can advance your education for almost nothing is great as well. You are a state employee is also another perk.

Cons

The salaries are on the low end. UMBC like to think it is all for the employee’s be it is actually not. An example of this is the service awards that they have every year, at other colleges that I have worked at everyone gets to go to the awards ceremony even if they are not getting one, but not UMBC. If you are NOT getting an award you CAN NOT attend the service.

Pros

University of Maryland Baltimore County is a good university. It has great professors and has good research opportunities. I worked here for 5 years and I am satisfied.

Cons

The only con that I believe affected me personally was the unavailability of food places near the TRC which is where I worked which is farther away from the main campus.
