Pros

The jobs are secure; benefits are decent. The campus is beautiful. It is great to work with a diverse (culturally, socioeconomically, age-wise) community of students. There are some really committed and passionate staff and faculty who are great to work with.

Cons

The pay isn't as good as private colleges. There seems to be a constant effort on the part of management/ upper administration to delay union contracts (and hence, annual raises), curb benefits. There is a lot of red tape bureaucracy. The senior staff seem so committed to their old ways that they dismiss new innovative ideas.
