Pros

Very reasonable work load and work life balance being a public university. The school, and the resources available to both employees, and students seem to be improving.

Cons

The work culture does involve some politics, but which company doesn't have politics?

Pros

Teaching eager young minds is an exhilarating experience. The students here are hardworking and many of them also keep a job and family while getting an education. Some stories are truly inspiring.

Cons

Some colleagues represent the worst of the problems in higher education. They pander to the students in the worst way and inflate grades. They have fostered a culture where a student can ask for 'additional' assignment, which would boost the grade irrespective of what is submitted.

Pros

Tuition reimbursement for employees, vacation time, holidays, beautiful campus

Cons

Low pay, commuting is tough as UMass is located on its own little island, the politics of the university can really interfere with your job
