Pros

UNC treats their nursing staff like they are valued members of the organization.

Cons

As is true across our profession, we are underpaid for our education level, work, and experience.

Pros

The staff nurses/team here are second to none in terms of team-based culture. Puts emphasis on individual patient care even post pandemic, which is difficult to find other places now. Lots of opportunities for continuing education for all staff in various levels and forms.

Cons

Not competitive pay for the area or nationwide. Rotating shifts, nights, days, weekends. Staffing for bedside nurses is just as bad here as everywhere else right now, in large part due to non-competitive pay for RNs, and no monetary compensation that would incentivize the current staff to stay. Staffing is never guaranteed, even with travelers, and patient acuity is not usually regarded by staffing office that controls allotted staff on a unit a shift.
