Pros

good salary and benefits, no taxes.

Cons

extremely hard to move up, especially in a era where restructuring is common. constant insecurity of career and no incentive. you are rewarded with more work instead. interviewing for other positions is almost a shot in the dark since most of the time there is a candidate already chosen and you might just be going through a formality for the sake of 'competition' contracts are 1 year or less even for full time appointments.

Pros

It's mission is meaningful(eradicating poverty).

Cons

Huge disparities in terms of benefits, salaries and recognition of work among national and international staff. This needs to change across all UN agencies.
