Communication - This is a big con for UNFI, it’s really hard to find supervisors that make sure to communicate well with the employees. Rate - they from the start tell us (OP OPERATORS) that we need to be at 100% rate, but when management came to discuss rates they said they have no idea what the rate is, and that we won’t be able to be paid incentive pay for doing better than 100% because they didn’t know what the rate was and they couldn’t control it, extremely unprofessional. Hours- There are no set in stone hours if you work full time, it’s from 9 am til whenever work is finished, sometimes that would mean a 8 hour shift, maybe a 12 hour shift and even sometimes as bad as 14 hours. if a bunch of people called in, guess what, your staying an extra 8 hours because you gotta still get the order out! Disrespect/Harassment - i worked at UNFI in sturtevant for almost 1 year, and throughout that measly one year, i along with multiple other past and present employees have been harassed, made fun of, and even been discriminated against because of their sexuality. this place doesn’t care about you, you are just another employee number in their system, they won’t reach out of your going through something, and they most definitely won’t support you if you are going through something as well. days off/holidays- if you have a family, kids, or a significant other, i repeat THIS JOB ISNT FOR YOU. Vacation time? once you past your 90 days you start accruing PTO which is just barely 2.5 hours of pto every week you work. They have “steps” as their attendance program, and if you use a step and call in they also take 10 hours of PTO no matter what, and even if you don’t have the full 10 hours of PTO they take all of it and use it towards that day. Sure you get paid for that day now, but now what happens for your kids bday? or maybe you wanna go to a concert, NOPE not anymore because they took all your PTO because you called in once this week 🤷🏼♂️ side jobs/extra work- Do NOT, i repeat do NOT get cross trained for other positions. I was cross-trained on every piece of machinery in the warehouse, now sure it looks good on my résumé but what you have just done is signed yourself up for doing EVERYTHING around the warehouse, someone called in and they need an extra replenisher, you’re going to do it, now sure i could understand helping out every once in a while, but when it’s a weekly thing, where they have you taking time away from getting your “rate” to go do something they need done, and then coming back later in the week to yell at you for not hitting rate.
