Pros

UPMC is one of the leading healthcare facilities in the nation that provides numerous jobs in the surroounding area. They offer some flexible scheduling depending on the job position along with accuable vacation time that is easy to use.

Cons

UPMC Passavant Cranberry is very discriminitory towards male employees at a departmental level. They are are also discriminatory towards those who are not RN's, especially pre-hospital personnel such as Paramedics, who are trained in emergency interventions far more so than RN's are. The lack of recognition given to these individuals has a direct impact on public relations between both parties.

There is a lot of chances to gain good experience in the medical field. You will be surrounded by some brilliant doctors and nurses.

Cons

Upper management tries to cut costs so much that it is not a safe environment for the workers or patients.

Pros

Benefits package, looks good on resume

Cons

The organization is old-school conservative, rife with nepotism, and ruled from a position of paranoia using fear, intimidation, and secrecy. It is not proactive, only reactive. There was little thought put into forward-looking strategy, just knee-jerk protectionism. Senior management, perhaps insecure about their knowledge and competence, routinely asks people to oversee tasks for which they are not qualified. This ensures that they a) perform poorly and b) don't have the knowledge or insight to question the bad judgment of senior management. Further, the department is structured so that there's little opportunity for people to advance, and moving up closer to senior management is no reward.
