Pros

There is nothing like the pride that comes with service and working in the uniformed military community. Exceptional efforts every day to accomplish the mission driven by that professional dedication to the mission and to each other. Benefits which are truly second to none.

Cons

Under-resourced for the missions we are tasked to do. Senior leadership in uniform and at the civilian level has become exceptionally political and this is corroding the moral and capability of the organization. An aging fleet of capital assets in desperate need of modernization with no clear vision of what that means and a dwindling workforce of qualified people to do it. No job security any more. No feedback on why some groups are getting cut.

Pros

Awesome opportunity for personal growth and promotions based on personal merit. Core Values of Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in All We Do are rules to live by. Great benefits and retirement if can stick it out for 20 years

Cons

Travel and deployment requirements can take a heavy toll on the family. Erosion of benefits and job insecurity due to Congressional and Presidential political and financial game-playing

Pros

Great benefits, decent locations, awesome co-workers, solid leadership. There is a policy for everything and it is not overly difficult to find a regulation to guide you.

Cons

Its the military to it can be a little controlling. Additionally, Air Force Personnel Center does little to help with non-rated officers' desire to career broaden and will not try to work within itself to place you where you desire to go. Lastly, the rating system for officers O-6 and bellow and all enlisted is nowhere near ideal.
