Probably not the best idea

Pros

The GI Bill and Life Insurance are very good for someone just entering the workforce. Certain jobs can open up possibilities after separating.

Cons

Finance is very difficult to work with when trying to receive back pay so you could very likely work several months without pay. You're also pretty much guaranteed some sort of hearing loss and chronic pain.

Pros

Becoming a Signals Intelligence Analyst was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made. This job allows you promising growth within the Intelligence Community and provides numerous opportunities when you are ready to transition back into the civilian sector. I signed for 4 years 40 weeks with a $25,000 bonus.

Cons

Long Advanced Individual Training that is roughly 7 months in San Angelo, Texas. Goodfellow, AFB is not the best environment for training, but your main goal is to get in the SCIF's and get what you need to get through AIT.

Pros

Medical benefits (but keep your own copy of records), travel (sometimes not always where you want), regular pay (when the government isn't shut down). The best pro is the learning experience. Depending on your provider, you have a chance to learn techniques and treatments outside of your scope of practice.

Cons

Whatever they told you you were going to do at the front door-it's not what you're going to be doing. Signed up to be a medic and did grunt work and inventory for five out of the six years in. Learned a lot, but definitely feel I could have had more treatment experience outside the military.
