Pros

Get to shoot fully automatic weapons Trained on Specialized equipment

Cons

Unless your an officer or enlisted with many years of experience no chance of going straight into management when you get out. Huge issues with Double Standards. IF you refuse an order to take shots the ARMY command will try to court martial you including shots that are experimental and not FDA approved. NO you do not need the Anthrax shot its only effective against powder form and not an inhalant form. WAY TO EASY FOR COMMAND to Court Martial and ruin every job application you submit for the rest of your life. Other than honorable discharge is equivalent to a felony in the EYES of Human Resources at every company you apply for. Unless your an officer your time won't be worth squat unless you work in your field you trained in when you get out. Don't waste your time Serve your Country in other areas of Government. What Work Life Balance. Enlisted have no work life balance if there is an issue in the barracks you can be sure you will be pulled into if you are around. No breaks. No School either that is only for officers and brown nosers and it's under company commander's discretion. Values and Culture are a joke. Watched an LT commit assualt against an enlisted and the enlisted soldier was chaptered out while the Officer was promoted a couple months later to CPT. This all happened in 4th Infantry Division, which is one of the better divisions.

Pros

Work with outstanding professional people that work hard and support their country. The Army has given me so much more than what I originally set out to accomplish. You are able to meet a diverse set of individuals that you would not be able to do if you grew up in a rural area like I did

Cons

Some downsides are long hours and you do not get overtime. Deployments are long and they are dangerous. Dealing with all of the BS that goes with being in the military. Sometimes you will get horrible leaders that could possibly give you a bad impression of the organization.
