Pros

There are a lot of good people working at FT. Campbell MWR. I met some very friendly people who do their best to support the soldiers at Fort Campbell. I was always treated well when I went to work on peoples computers and I felt good at the end of the day about what I had accomplished.

Cons

For one thing, the hiring process for any Civil Service job at Ft. Campbell is totally broken. It is supposed to be fair and based on knowledge skills and abilities with an advantage going to former soldiers who have paid their dues by serving the country but it is not. It is all about who you know. If you want a prime example of cronyism look to Ft. Campbell's civil service jobs. If you submit a job application, do not expect a call unless you know someone in the organization who can speak for you; unless you are applying for the lowest paying jobs where they wont give you much anyway. Working for the I.T. department at MWR was extremely dissappointing. They have created a work evironment for themselves and if you don't fit their mold, you are cast off like an old used coat. If you want to continue working for this department, be prepared to stroke your leadership's ego every chance you get. Excellent performance and customer satisfaction are not included in the equation. The tech lead and her two cronies would hang out all day together one of them was so inept she couldn't fix the first thing and everyone in the shop knew it. It was pathetic that she was protecting someone who couldn't do her job and they would spend the whole day chit-chatting while others were focused on their work. They even rearranged the whole office so they would share the same cubilce space and see each other. They would take extra long lunch breaks, many over two hours.

It is a lethal business in combat missions, and people are trying to kill you while you are trying to kill them.
