Pros

There is plenty of opportunity to learn and grow. The benefits are actually pretty good. You will get to travel, a lot.

Cons

You will spend a lot of time away from home, especially on deployments. Being in a war zone can have adverse effects on your health.

Pros

Good work life balance, competitive pay for doing relatively no work. Guaranteed promotions.

Cons

No meritocracy in place, everyone gets promoted by time, which is a waste of talent. Needs of the Army come first, regardless of personal situations.
